DHC is a History Research and Learning Center housed in President Ronald Reagan’s boyhood South Central School; located in his hometown of Dixon, Illinois.
Beautifully restored with the dedicated support of the townspeople and Reagan colleagues, the Center is proudly affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution.

Our latest permanent exhibit, the story of early Dixon, is told through a scale-model diorama of the downtown as it appeared in 1846. Along with narrative placards telling stories of the earliest Dixon settlers, the display details the roots that took hold to establish one of Illinois’ most beautiful riverfront towns.
Please visit Dixon and enjoy an important part of Northwestern Illinois history.
The Historic Center has an interesting piece of history for everyone in the family.
